I was in London last week and decided to pop along to an event at the CRL (Maker Connections) in Hayes and Harrington. What with Cross Rail and mega development, the area is changing faster than a Lean Startup. It was great to catch up with Mat Hunter (mega experienced hardware developer) and also a previous NDP mentor, Mandy Nyarko, who is heading up their accelerator program after a spell working in Brighton recently, where she advised NDP as we scaled up and launched in London.
It was a fortuitous point to catch up with the team over there, as applications are now open for the next intake on their very well respected hardware accelerator program. What we love about the CRL is their focus on novel ideas and hands on development. If you get on their program, expect a lot of support and a practical roller-coaster to success (via Shenzhen of course!). However, if you are thinking about taking a wearable to market, we are clearly the better option!
In other very exciting news – the CRL are heading to Brighton in the very near future, where they will be opening an accelerator program at the Field Brighton site next to Brighton University, which is rapidly approaching a major development. This is all very exciting, as Brighton has long needed a kick up the Arduino and this development could be just that. NDP have just agreed to work with the University on an exciting new collaborative venture (details will be published soon) and we are really looking forward to strengthening ties on their Moulsecoomb campus.
Certainly worth popping over the CRL site to have a look if you are taking an idea to market and want top notch advice, space, cash and access to some of the best people in the UK hardware game.
